SUPPORTING YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS; KEY TO SUSTAINABLE ECONOMY- Mamora

The Minister of Science Technology and Innovation, Dr. (Sen.) Adeleke Olorunnimbe Mamora has called on all Policy makers and stakeholders to support young Entrepreneurs and Inventors so as to enhance new opportunities for sustainable development and economic growth.
The Minister made the call at the closing ceremony of the Science, Technology and Innovation EXPO (STI) 2023 today, in Abuja.
Dr. Mamora said that the theme of the EXPO is “Actualizing Effective Diversification of the Nigerian Economy, Through Science, Technology and Innovation (STI)” which is in line with the Present Administration’s economic Diversification Agenda.
He emphasized that Nigeria has millions of committed talents, researchers, innovators and investors yearning for commercialization of their technologies necessary to drive economic development and growth of the country.
The Minister pointed out that the essence of the EXPO is to provide a platform for Researchers, Inventors and Investors to connect and explore potential investment opportunities necessary for economic empowerment of Nigerians.
 According to the Minister, assessment was conducted in various categories which include Entrepreneurs, Research Institutions, Tertiary Institutions, Junior Engineers, Technicians, and Scientists (JETS), Secondary Schools, and states, was professionally done in a transparent manner as follows:

A. JETS CATEGORY

He further said that the inclusion of government, private sector, academic and research institution is a great platform to further the course of economic diversification agenda of the country.
 To this end, Dr. Mamora encouraged the organised private sector to take advantage of the research results and prototypes showcased at this EXPO2023 to create jobs for our people, reduce poverty, crime as well as create wealth for  themselves and the nation.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs Monilola Udoh, said that the EXPO is aimed at creating right atmosphere for industrial growth, promoting the synergy and collaboration between the industries and academia as well as strengthening the innovative skills of researchers and encouraging local contents.
